Jazz goes to Campus

Sunday afternoon, at the end of my boss’ wedding I was asked to join to the “Jazz goes to Campus” in Depok in the University of Indonesia. So from one second to an other i decided to join. As we were on the way to the train station I got a message from Josh, one of the AFS students here around. He asked me what I was doing and I told him if he would come right now, he could join to Depok too. Some 20 minutes later we all were at the trainstation together. As we got to Depok it rained like hell, but that could stop us from getting excited for the Concerts. We went to Stage C as we wanted to se a group called Maliq & D’Essentials. I didn’t know the group before but was asured that they would be awesome. The first jazz bands playing were good, but more of the kind you would here in a bar as a background instead of the main act in a concert. The rain continued and we got cold, bored and tired. We held on. And nearly 40 minutes after the official time plan Maliq finally stood on the stage. From one second to another the silent masses turned into a dancing and singing crowd. The concerts was really got and I can say that I have found the first indonesian band i really like. Funny enough with Maliq coming the raind ceased. After the concert, tired as we were, we got ourselves a taxi and went home, but first we ate a late dinner at the warungs nearby. Java Jazz Festival I’m coming!
