Pieces: A Bus in the Fog

Sometimes I just feel like writing down some pieces of thoughts running through my head. Today is one of these days.

Actually it is way too early in the morning to be on the road. But you can’t get to Zürich doing nothing. Still sleepy I leave the warm bed, the warm apartment behind and disappear into the chilly night. It might be morning already, but deep inside me the night is still ruling. As I get out of the apartment the cold is forcing me to close my jacket even more neatly. Soon enough the little red car is hovering taciturnly through the dusky forest. As the ventilation fills slowly and monotone the interior of the car with warm air, the cold is leaving the bones. In the light cones of the street lamps the fog drips are gathering. The orange light hems the street and the dance of the droplets seems to be so familiar. They all come together to celebrate something. Since the dawn of time they are familiar with this gathering. Slowly we get closer to the bridge over the Rhine and the loose drops start to form an impenetrable wall. I know that we will never reach the wall, it is inapproachable, but yet I wish to touch it. Over the river the wall gets so dense, that it immediately resembles a stone wall. To our sides there is only the darkness of the water. The light cones look like pyramids at the edges of the bridge and in front of us a red city bus rolls through the wall of fog. How I envy that bus for being in that place. I can’t see his exterior mirrors for they are on the other side of the wall. Only the red back-lights of the big red one are still on this world. The car winds between the time-honored houses of the old town. Absorbed in thoughs I leave the car, a short goodbye, but my thoughts are lost in the fog. Slowly i pace through the train station. Barely any human is around. Now the fog only remains in my head for over the plattform there is nothing but a slight veil. But know I know for sure, the autumn is here.
