About a Bathtub

Well for the last past years I’ve been only showering and when we stayed in that four stars hotel in Yogyakarta with AFS and found myself in a bathroom with a bathtub and hot water I could not resist the idea of having a nice hot bath. A little bit contradictionary since Yogyakarta is quite a hot town, but one should take every change one gets. So I did take that change and enjoyed it. Actually I don’t really miss to take a bath but once in a while it is just nice.

Über die letzten paar Jahre habe ich im nur geduscht und als wir dann durch AFS in einem Vier-Sterne-Hotel in Yogyakarta untergebracht waren und ich mich in einem Badezimmer mit Badewanne und heißem Wasser wiederfand, konnte ich der Idee nicht wiederstehen mir ein schönes Bad einzulassen. Es ist zwar ein bisschen wiedersprüchlich, da Yogyakarta eine sehr heiße Stadt ist, aber man sollte jede Chance ergreifen, die man bekommt. Also habe ich diese Chance ergriffen und genossen. Eigentlich vermisse ich das Baden ja gar nicht, aber so ab und zu mal ist es doch schön

En los años pasado solamente me he duchado y cuando AFS nos dió un cuarto en un hotel de cuatro estrellas me encontraba en un baño con una bañera y agua caliente no pude restir la idea te bañarme caliente. Tal vez es un poco contradictorio porque Yogyakarta es un lugar muy caliente, pero se debe que aprovechar de cada chance que se presenta a uno. Yo aproveché. De verdad ni me falta la bañera, pero de vez en cuando es lindo usarla.

About Lava

One of the things we cannot controll. Standing in front of a cold lava stream I realized that this is where human possibilities end. Some villagers brought goods from the near-by forest over the cold lava masses. We passed by a protection room. It was supposed to save people from the heat, but two persones hided inside during the last eruption with was so strong that lava reached the room before the heat was gone and thereby killed them. Slowly we were walking over this great emptiness where once a village has been.  Total silence amongst us, only in the far woods you could hear some birds singing. But here death ruled.

Eines der Dinge, die wir nicht kontrollieren können. Vor der erstarrten Lava zu stehen machte mir klar, dass hier die Grenzen der menschlichen Möglichkeiten liegen. Ein paar Dorfbewohner brachten Materialien aus dem nahegelegen Wald über den erstarrten Lavastrom. Wir passierten einen Schutzraum. Er hätte die Menschen vor der Hitze schützen sollen, aber zwei Personen suchten Schutz darin bei der letzten Eruption, die so stark war, dass Lava den Raum erreichte bevor die Hitze verging und somit deren Leben kostete. Langsam gingen wir über diese enorme Leere, wo einst ein Dorf war. Stille herrschte unter uns, nur die Vögel zwitscherten in den fernen Wäldern. Aber hier herrschte der Tod.

Una de las cosas que no podemos controlar. Estando en frente de las frías masas de lava me daba cuenta que acá se terminan las posibilidades de los humanos. Unos aldeanos traeron bienes del bosque cercano sobre las frías masas de lava. Pasabamos un refugio. Debería proteger gente del calor, pero dos personas se refugiaron durante la ultima erupción que era tan fuerte que la lava les llegó antes de que se iba el calor y así se mueron. Lentamente caminabamos por el vacio enorme donde antes había una aldea. Estuvimos totalmente silenciosos, solamente se escuchaba los pajaros cantando en los bosques lejanos. Pero acá era el régimen de la muerte.

About Transportation

So the first difference to see compared to Bogor is, NO Angkots at all. They have a bus system there and these nice Tricycles with a seat in front you can sit on. And of course Taxis. But we rented a driver for the first day because our first day was all about sight-seeing. For some moderate 27 Euros we had transportation for the whole day. The driver was a nice guy giving us many hints were to go and what to see. It was kind of relaxing to not have to think about how to get anywhere. Eventually we invited him for lunch. One fun thing that happened though was, that a road got closed we used before. So we had to use some really bad roads instead. But I guess that is what can happen to you in Indonesia.

Der erste Unterschied zu Bogor ist ganz klar, KEINE Angkots. Hier gibt es dafür ein ausgeprägtes Busnetz und diese dreirädrigen Fahrräder mit einem Sitzplatz Vorne. Außerdem natürlich Taxis. Wir aber haben uns einen Fahrer für den ersten Tag gemietet, denn am ersten Tag ging es nur um Sight-Seeing. Das Ganze hat auch nur moderate 27 Euro für einen Tag gekostet. Der Fahrer war sehr nett und hat uns viele nützliche Hinweise gegeben, was wir ansehen könnten. Es war auch sehr entspannend nicht darüber nachdenken zu müssen, wie wir wohin kommen. Wir haben ihn sogar zum Mittagessen eingeladen. Und einen lustigen Zwischenfall haten wir. Eine der Straßen über die wir kamen, war auf dem Rückweg plötzlich gesperrt und so mussten wir stattdessen auf eine richtig schlechte Straße ausweichen. Ich vermute mal, das ist wohl, was einem in Indonesien passieren kann.

La primera diferencia entre Bogor y Yogyakarta es que NO hay Angkots. Pero hay bus y esas tricicletas con una silla en frente. Además hay taxis. Pero nosotros nos rentabamos un conductor por el primer día, porque el primer día era solamente para hacer sight-seeing. Pagabamos unos 27 euros moderatos para todo el día. El conductor era muy buena gente y nos ayudó mucho con ideas que visitar y ver. Era muy relajante no pensar en comó se llega a dónde. Al final le invitabamos a almorzar con nosotros. Pasó una cosa muy divertido. Una calle que usabamos antes la cerraron y nosotros tuvimos que buscarnos otra ruta, una calle en condiciones malísimas. Pero creo que eso es lo que puede pasar en Indonesia.

About Being Sick … Again

Before I tell you about all the cool stuff, let’s talk about the not so cool things first. I got Diarrea while I was in Yogyakarta. Luckily it I still could come around. After I got medication from the doctor it soon became better and I could enjoy Yogyakarta more. But somehow it is really funny, every time that I leave Bogor I get sick. Maybe I should stay here, seems to be the best place for me.

Bevor wir nun über die interessanten Dinge reden, will ich noch die unangenehmen Sachen besprechen. Ich habe Durchfall bekommen, während ich in Yogyakarta war. Zum Glück konnte ich trotzdem umherziehen. Sobald ich Medikamente vom Arzt bekam wurde es auch bald besser und ich konnte Yogyakarta etwas mehr genießen. Es ist schon irgendwie lustig, jedes Mal wenn ich Bogor verlasse werde ich krank. Vielleicht sollte ich einfach hier bleiben, es scheint der beste Ort für mich zu sein.

Antes de hablar de lo interesante, tengo que hablar de lo mal. Tuve diarrea mientras estaba en Yogyakarta. Por suerte aún asi pude visitar cualquier parte. Después de haber sido medicamentado por un doctor mi situación se mejoró rapidamente y pudé disfrutar más de Yogyakarta. Es divertido que cada vez que salgo de Bogor me enfermo. Quizá debería quedarme acá, parece ser el mejor lugar para mi.

About a Trip

So I’m back home now and it is time to write about my trip, but lamentably or luckily it is to much for one post. So you will find several posts about this trip in the upcoming days, each covering one event. Starting from today, later this day I’ll post the first one.

Inzwischen bin ich wieder Zuhause und es wird Zeit über meine Reise zu berichten, leider oder auch zum Glück ist es zuviel Inhalt für nur einen Beitrag. Darum werdet ihr in den nächsten Tagen mehrere Beiträge hier vorfinden, die sich jeweils mit einem Event beschäftigen. Von heute ab geht es los und ich werde im Laufe des Tages den ersten Beitrag schreiben.

Ya estoy de vuelta en casa y es hora de contarles sobre mi viaje, lamentablement o por suerte es demasiado contenido por una sola noticia. Asi que les presentaré en los próximos días varios noticias sobre los eventos de mi viaje. Desde hoy en adelante les escribiré, empezando hoy con la primer noticia algo más tarde.
